I. Three-Week Exhibit at the Senior Center:
$5 entry fee, limit: 1 submission
- Friday, August 29 - submission form due – (no money)
- Friday, Sept. 5 - drop off art between 4:30 & 6:30 (w/fee)
- Friday, Sept. 27 – Closing Reception 5-7 pm
Pick up art between 7-7:30 pm
II. One-Day Exhibit at Oak Street: No entry fee.
Saturday, September 27
Drop off: 9-10 am Viewing 10 am – 4 pm
Pick up art: 4-5 pm

2008 Events
Monday, Feb. 4 - “Elm Park inWinter”
Watercolor Demonstration - Mark Waitkus
will explain his choice for a winter color palette & demonstrate his techniques in creating a crisp winter scene. Widely known for his sports illustrations, Mr.Waitkus has donated a Red Sox World Series print for a raffle at this meeting.
Wednesday, Feb. 6 - “Frida” 7 -9 pm
Documentary at Shrewsbury Public Library
AGS will host the award-winning documentary about
Frida Kahlo, the most beloved and controversial Mexican female artist married to Diego Rivera, a renowned Mexican muralist. Please note that this movie is rated “R” and may not be appropriate for everyone.
Monday, March 3 - “Sketch Happening”
Members are asked to bring sketch materials and an object, which will be arranged in groups around the room. Sketches, based on artistic instinct & made in timed intervals, will produce a variety of work. Participants will share & analyze their work to determine possibilities for development & growth into new works.
Monday, April 7 - “Successful Colors”
Joyce Rettstadt, of the Princton Arts Society,
asks that you arrive with tubes of paint (acrylic or watercolor), a brush, & some paper for this workshop. Discover how to avoid undesirable colors and learn to mix pigments to get the colors that you really want. Leave with a basic understanding of color theory & handouts to guide you to successful color in your art.
Monday, May 5 - Sharing Party
Bring a potluck dish and an unfinished work of art for suggestions on how it might be completed.
March “Just a Little Art Show”
Members have an opportunity to show their smaller works of art at the Central One Federal Credit Union, 714 Main St., Shrewsbury. Arrangements can be made to transfer art to the large Worcester exhibit in April. Entry applications with details will be mailed.
April “AGS at Worcester Public Library”
The main branch of the Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Square, will accommodate various size artwork: smaller size art in glass display cases and larger size art on the walls of the Saxe Room. Art transport possibilities & exhibit details will be mailed with the entry applications. Dates to keep in mind for this event are listed below:
April 1 (Tuesday) Small works placed in display cases.
Drop off 2-4 pm and 5-7 pm
April 2 - 26 Exhibit
April 26 (Saturday) 10 am - 12 pm Events
Artist Reception 1-3 pm in the Saxe Room.
April 26 (Saturday) 3 -4:30 pm Art Pick-up
Please consider helping in any way that you can with the above exhibits.
The more help that we have, the more opportunity to schedule additional exhibits & display your art!
